Read moreAngela Andrews became the first African American woman elected to the Hayward City Council in 2020. She is a lifetime member of BWOPA and is a champion for economic development, affordable housing, and promoting black culture in Hayward. In 2021, she organized the first Juneteenth celebration and spearheaded, along with the NAACP, a business closure for Juneteenth for the City of Hayward. She is also the former Chair of the Hayward Clean and Green Task Force, where she led beautification projects across the City. She is also the former Vice Chair of the Hayward Planning Commission and approved many projects including amenities, restaurants, and affordable housing projects.
With the support of the Hayward Chamber of Commerce, she created the Black Business Roundtable to create a forum and provide resources to help black businesses and others thrive in Hayward.
In her professional life, Angela is the Capital Portfolio Manager at West County Wastewater, where she oversees projects with a capital portfolio budget of $200 million. She is a proud member of AFSCME Local 1. She serves on the East Bay Dischargers Authority Commission, Hayward Local Agency Committee, and other committees.
She obtained a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from UCLA and earned a Master of Planning from USC. She lives in South Hayward with her husband, Greg, and their 1-year-old daughter, Grier.
