What We Do

Training Democratic Women Leaders

“If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.”
— The Honorable Shirley Chisholm,
First Black woman elected to the United States Congress

We want to live in a world that allows us to succeed and recognizes the humanity of every one of us. This desire and need fuels our mission to build reflective leadership by training women, especially women representing the New American Majority.

Currently in California, one of the most solidly Democratic states in the country, women still make up less than 42% of the state legislature. The percentage of New American Majority women who hold elected office is even smaller.

When critical decisions – from public health mandates to allocating city budgets to environmental policy – are made by elected leaders who don’t reflect the diversity of our state, the outcomes of those decisions are often not equitable either.

We are actively changing that.
