What We Do

Training Democratic Women Leaders

“Women in this country must become revolutionaries. We must refuse to accept the old, the traditional roles and stereotypes...we must replace the old, negative thoughts about our femininity with positive thoughts and positive action affirming it.”
— The Honorable Shirley Chisholm,
First Black woman elected to the United States Congress

Women demonstrate everyday that they don’t just know how to lead – they’re exceptional and impactful leaders.

Women’s leadership is unique, based on honesty, compassion, integrity, facts, science, and the desire to serve the most vulnerable among us.

We want to live in a world that allows us to succeed and recognizes the humanity of every one of us. This desire and need fuels our mission to build reflective leadership by training women representing the New American Majority.

Currently in California, one of the most solidly Democratic states in the country, women make up less than 33% of the state legislature. The percentage of New American Majority women who hold elected office is even smaller.

When critical decisions – from public health mandates to allocating city budgets to environmental policy – are made by elected leaders who don’t reflect the diversity of our state, the outcomes of those decisions are often not equitable either.

We are actively changing that.
