Currently, she works at The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation supporting a portfolio of grants under the Nuclear Security and Cyber Initiatives as well as working with the Performing Arts Program. Previously, she was a Legislative Aide in the Florida House of Representatives where she analyzed public policy and assisted in the drafting of state legislation. Prior to becoming a Legislative Aide, she served as a Commission Aide at the City of Miami Beach. Additionally, she has worked as a Staff Aide to former U.S. Senator Bob Graham and on two presidential campaigns (Bob Graham for President and John Kerry’s campaign). Marlene has a Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Health Services Administration from Florida International University where she taught as an Adjunct Instructor for the Department of Public Administration. She is Outreach Director for the Junior League of San Jose where she was a Board Member and delegate to the State Public Affairs Committee, advocating for various state legislative issues. As a delegate of the Junior Leagues of California State Public Affairs Committee, Marlene served as the Policy Chair for the Violence Prevention Subcommittee. Marlene is a Cuban-American originally from Miami, Florida.
