Dr. Denise Fleming was born in Chicago, Illinois, the sixth of seven children. There she attended the local public schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. She was diligent in her studies and was the class valedictorian when she graduated from primary school.
After graduating from Chicago Vocational High School she attended University of Illinois Chicago Circle where she pledged Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and married. After moving to California, she continued her education earning a Master’s Degree in Business, then a doctorate in Education.
Denise is married to Donald Fleming and they have two birth children, one a medical doctor and the other a local college student. They recently adopted a third special needs child. She owns a party planning business, Ordained and Sustained Events, Inc. where she plans weddings and other great parties. She is a realtor with ten years experience. Denise also served eight years in the United States Navy
She has traveled four of the seven continents and has a goal to travel all seven. However, her main interest is and has always been education. She has worked in education for almost twenty years. Her career spans throughout the Inland Empire including, California State University San Bernardino, University of Redlands, and Riverside Unified School District. She is currently the purchasing agent for Moreno Valley Unified School District and a college adjunct professor.
Denise is a licensed Minister and a charter member of Cathedral of Praise International Ministries under Bishop Craig W. Johnson. She is a former board member for Care Connexus in Riverside an Alzheimer’s Daycare Center. She is the Director of Harvest Community Development Center, whose mission is to strengthen and support individuals and families by fostering independence and promoting healthy families. She is also a volunteer at Charter Hospice where she assists families whose love ones are transitioning between life and death.
In addition to her other duties and with her experience, Dr. Fleming was recently victorious in her candidacy for the Moreno Valley Unified School Board. As a school board trustee her agenda is to improve the district’s academic opportunities while overseeing the district’s 600 million dollar budget.
