She also serves as a commissioner on the Housing Advisory Commission in Berkeley. In addition, she serves on the board of both the National Women’s Political Caucus-Alameda North and the Claremont Elmwood Neighborhood Association. Lori has broad experience in public service having spent years as a public high school teacher and an educator for homeless individuals within Alameda County. While acquiring her master’s degree in public policy, Lori worked with local transportation executives to improve their methodological approach in studying women’s under-representation in the transportation services industry.
Lori has been active in the City of Berkeley for years. in 2012, she was nominated to serve on Berkeley’s anti-trafficking subcommittee and subsequently formed a partnership with Mills College Public Policy Program to create a model anti-trafficking program with clearly identifiable policy goals to present to City Council. Lori has recently collaborated with UC students and representatives, the Mills policy program, and city staff to analyze and propose specific policy interventions to stem the increase in sexual assaults both on campus and in the city.
Lori has particular interest in improving the quality of life for families and children in Berkeley. Lori lives with her wife Carrie, son Simon, and soon-to-be daughter in the Elmwood District.
