She earned her Master’s degree in Social and Cultural Psychology at the London School of Economics while there as a Rotary International Scholar. As an undergraduate, Denise graduated with a degree in Social Psychology of Gender and Multiculturalism for Social Change from the Johnston Center for Integrative Studies at the University of Redlands. Her passion for social justice has been the catalyst for her community organizing and work in the political arena.
After leading the Redlands for Hillary volunteer team in 2016, Denise was elected to be a delegate representing the 40th Assembly District in California in January of 2017. She founded the group Redlands for Progressive Change shortly after the 2016 Presidential Election, and has served as a primary organizer and moderator of the Common Ground Conversation Series. The series includes panelists from progressive and conservative backgrounds and is formatted in a way to elicit common and shared ideas, rather than divisive debate. Denise also was the founder and primary organizer of the inaugural Persist 2017 Women’s Political Engagement Conference at UC Riverside. The event brought together elected officials, academics, students, activists, community members and organizers with the goal of getting more women involved in politics.
