Emerge California trains Democratic women leaders who reflect the communities they serve to run for elected office — and WIN. We do this to change the face of power so that we can elect leaders who have the life experience, passion and resolve to reimagine, rebuild and fight for a just and equitable world.
For more than 20 years, we have changed the face of elected power in the State of California by focusing on:
- Recruitment: We are intentional about recruiting Democratic women leaders who reflect the communities they serve, including women of the New American Majority – Black, Brown and Indigenous women, women of color, LGBTQ+ women, young, and unmarried women.•
- Training: We are the state’s premier candidate training program for Democratic women, and our Signature 6-Month Candidate Training is the only one of its kind.
- Alum Engagement: We lift up Emerge California alums in the political arena by highlighting alum candidates and elected officials, providing continuing candidate education, and fostering our culture of sisterhood.
Today, more than 850 women leaders have been trained by Emerge California. More than 200 Emerge California alums serve in elected office. When Emerge California alums run for office, they win nearly 70% of the time.
