She is an elected 35th district ADEM, member of the Central committee of San Luis Obispo Democratic party and a local progressive community leader. Violet is self employed artisan beekeeper and herbalist for the past decade. Her political journey started with a coalition to developing a new National Marine Sanctuary off the coast of San Luis Obispo. Violets education is in Religious Studies, Indigenous Studies and Criminal Justice. Her political endeavors and commitment to the protection of sacred spaces is matched by her deeply-rooted belief that environmental issues affect the most marginalized people in our community first. Violets consulted in local politics for more than 20 years, working with the county, city, state/federal government on local projects. Violets believes it is her obligation to speak for those plants and animals who have no voice and represent the community in social and environmental justice issues. The Chumash Heritage Marine Sanctuary is a grassroots vision she is committed to seeing through.
