A nationally recognized LGBT Leader and an At Large Delegate to the DNC for Hillary Clinton in 2016, she is one of the first three trans delegates to ever attend the Democratic National Convention from California in 2016. She is the first trans person to run for district delegate in CA-13, Rep. Barbara Lee’s district in 2016. As a longtime LGBTQI community member, advocate/activist and HIV/AIDS warrior, she explores the communities affected, infected, marginalized and always fighting for their civil rights, dignity, and life, illuminating the humanity that others continue to deny.
In the decade of the 90’s, she was at the forefront of the AIDS epidemic in the SF East Bay as the 1st Transgender Empress of the non-profit Imperial Court of Alameda County, ISE, (94-95), fundraising, organizing, and performing. The Imperial Court System is the oldest LGBT Organization in the US. As the Program Manager for Transgender Services at Tri-City Health Center, an FQHC community clinic, she insures that the trans and gender neutral community has access to affirming, responsive healthcare, hormones, and HIV prevention/care services. The program she co-created in 2002, TransVision, is the first comprehensive health and social services program for transgender people in Alameda County is nationally recognized in linking trans women of color into HIV services and creates jobs, mentorship for trans women of color. She is currently the Project Manager of the Brandy Martell Project, a HRSA Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) demonstration site Enhancing Engagement and Retention in Quality HIV Care for Transgender Women of Color. The Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance she has produced in Oakland the last 11 years brings community, allies, elected officials/legislators/law enforcement together to combat transphobia, engage community in honoring trans victims of violent crimes. Her policy, advocacy, and organizing efforts throughout the county, strives to create safer communities for trans and LGBQI people and address the intersecting issues affecting and has received recognition from the CA. State Legislature, Rep. Barbara Lee, and the Oakland City Council.
Her service as the Transgender and LGBQ Liaison with the Oakland Police Department has provided a voice for many community members that were previously stifled. By offering education and awareness training for the Department as well as being a Police Academy Trainor, she continues to foster relationships, promote understanding, and build bridges between law enforcement and some of our most vulnerable populations. She recently assisted the City of Oakland, the Mayor’s Office, OPD, and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office/Coroner on the tragic Ghost Ship warehouse fire, one of the worst fires in US history, issuing guidance on respectful and accurate reporting and coordinating media interviews relating to the three young transgender women who tragically lost their lives in the fire. She is a member of City of Oakland Child Sexual Exploitation Task Force (CSEC), eliminating youth sex trafficking. In 2016, she was selected by Assemblymember Kansen Chu (D-San Jose) as an Inspirational Woman for the CA-25th Assembly District. She was selected by US Rep. Barbara Lee and the US Attorney for Northern California, as a community leader representing the Trans and LGB community at the DOJ Building Community Trust Roundtable with Attorney General Eric Holder, held in Oakland, CA, 2015. In 2014, she was selected to the Trans 100 List – an annual list of 100 Transgender Individuals Making a Difference in the USA.

She is the Associate Producer of the award winning documentary “Trans Francisco”, which premiered at the prestigious Frameline34 International Film festival in 2010, screened domestically and internationally, and she is featured in the film. She is also featured in the domestic and international award winning film, “TRANS”, where she also coordinated filming the Oakland scenes. She has been a member the SAG-AFTRA for 26 years and was a member of the SAG Awards Television Nominating Committee in 2014. As an Independent Background Casting Director working in Los Angeles, she cast eight feature films, two short films, and participated in various other projects from 2000-2005.
