Her professional background includes 15 years experience in executive roles in health and human service nonprofit organizations and 17 years as a health care researcher and strategic planning consultant. She served on the faculty of USF, teaching courses in health care administration. Most recently she served as the Executive Director of the domestic violence programs in Napa County.Sharon’s public leadership roles focused on guiding organizations through challenging periods of change and redefinition. She rescued a failing peace convention that accompanied the 1984 Democratic Convention and served as start-up CEO for the first television program that translated the science of the environment into practical steps for integration in our every-day lives – now CNN Earth Watch. Working with the California Senate Office of Research, she conducted the base line research to document the need for special legislation to ensure mentally ill children had access to appropriate treatment. The authorizing legislation was adopted in one year and signed into law by a Republican governor. Sharon served ten years on the Marin Women’s Commission, seven years on the county Mental Health Board, four years on the California Children’s Mental Health Policy Board, two years on the CALM board and ten years on a local, community arts board.A California native, Jackson graduated from Cal State Hayward; she also holds a master’s degree in counseling, an MBA, and has completed course work for her doctorate in organization and leadership.
