Margaret was elected in 2008 to the Piedmont City Council. She is the first Asian Pacific American woman to serve on the City Council. In her first run for elected office, Margaret was the top vote getter sweeping all 6 precincts in Piedmont in a competitive race. Prior to her election, Margaret served as the Chair of the Piedmont Capital Improvement Projects Committee and a member of the Piedmont Centennial Committee. She has served as a VP on the Wildwood Elementary School Parents Board, is a member of the Piedmont Asian American Club, the League of Women Voters of Piedmont, and the National Women’s Political Caucus, Alameda North. A former president of both the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) and the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area, Margaret currently serves as Co-Chair of the NAPABA Women’s Leadership Committee.Margaret has a B.A. from UC Berkeley and a J.D. from Hastings College of the Law.
