She will begin her term on the San José City Library Commission in July 2017. She believes in standing with members of marginalized groups and protecting vulnerabilities in ourselves and in others.
Kristin completed a doctorate degree in Psychology with her dissertation titled, Transpersonal Genealogy: An Autoethnographic Study Juxtaposing the Lived Experience of An Early Mormon Ancestor With Her Lesbian Descendant. She earned a Master’s degree in Organizational Management, and a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish. Kristin contributed Lesbian Teacher Believes In You to the New York Times bestselling anthology, It Gets Better: Coming Out, Overcoming Bullying, and Creating a Life Worth Living.
Kristin’s unique professional background includes nearly 20 years as a public high school educator (teaching English, ESL, Spanish, Mexican-American Heritage, Prenatal Health and Infant Toddler Development) and nearly 10 years in high technology companies: in training, software program management, and customer advocacy. She is currently working as a High-Touch Operations Manager at Cisco.
She is a mother of three incredible teenagers and since 1998, has been married three times (to the same amazing woman).
