Read moreIsabel J. Sanchez serves as a Policy Advocate for the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA). In this capacity, she works in conjunction with CHIRLA’s Policy Department to promote local, regional, state and federal policies that advance immigrant integration and protect immigrants’ basic human and civil rights. Furthermore, she serves as a liaison between federal policy members, federal agencies, and CHIRLA.
Isabel most recently completed the Justice Policy Network fellowship, which is a community for emerging leaders in criminal justice to advance the reaction and implementation of trans formative policies. Earlier this summer, Isabel also graduated from the Front Line Leaders Academy fellowship, which is a program that aims to build a political system that is truly representative of marginalized communities by providing local leaders like Isabel with the necessary political and organizing skills to be an effective local leader. Currently, she serves as an Investment Commissioner for the City of Montebello and serves in the Latinas Lead California’s Young Professionals Network.
Isabel holds a Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of California, Riverside in Political Science/Law and Society. Prior to joining CHIRLA, Isabel worked as a congressional staffer for the United States Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) in Oakland, CA where she served an intermediary role between federal and local agencies on behalf of the Senator’s constituency.
