Read moreElizabeth Knowles is the Executive Director of the ABA Immigration Justice Project (IJP). She supervises the Legal Orientation Program at the Otay Mesa Detention Facility, the IJP’s Pro Bono Lawyer Training and Referral Program, and the National Qualified Representative Program in San Diego, which provides government appointed counsel to mentally incompetent detainees in immigration removal proceedings. Elizabeth litigates removal cases before the Executive Office for Immigration Review and the Board of Immigration Appeals. She is an adjunct professor of law at Thomas Jefferson School of Law and teaches the Immigration Removal Defense Seminar which trains students to represent clients in immigration court. Elizabeth is a long-time resident of San Diego and enjoys spending time with her 8-year old daughter, Azalea, and her husband, Todd. She is the Chairperson of the School Site Council at Crown Point Junior Music Academy and an active member of the Pacific Beach Town Council. Elizabeth is a member of the California State Bar, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Lawyers Club of San Diego, and the American Constitution Society. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University and her Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. During law school, Elizabeth served as President of the Public Interest Law Foundation, wrote and edited for the Law Review, and served as a competitor and board member of the Moot Court Honor Society.
