Read moreDr. Annette Walker is an educator, a community advocate-activist, a lecturer and author of the book, Hot Topics in Public Education. She has been involved in creating equitable learning environments in urban settings for more than a decade and has written and spoken extensively on the topic. She gives special attention to addressing the needs of underrepresented populations, as well as empowering parents and community in education reform efforts. She has served more than 18 years in public education as a bilingual elementary teacher, lecturer and community college counselor, and education administrator. Currently she serves as an admissions specialist in the California State University (CSU) system. However, she takes special pride in being the mother to her adult daughter.Dr. Walker is a graduate of the University of San Francisco, where she earned a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Educational Psychology from California State University, Hayward, and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from San Francisco State University. Her passion for learning and giving back to the community are reflected in her community involvement and her participation in local, state, and national memberships, including the League of Women Voters, and a recent appointment to the Hayward Unified School District Personnel Commission by State Superintendent of Schools Tom Torlakson.
