She is a transplant from Washington, DC who moved to the Bay Area in 1993. She is a qualified and effective leader and public servant. Desrie maintains a passion for students and for learning which she is eager to put to use on behalf of the Fremont Unified School District.
As an active member of the community, Desrie serves as: President of the Fremont Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises funds to provide educational enrichment for Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) students and teachers. Member of the FUSD Citizens Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC) formed to monitor the 2002 Health and Safety Bond funds.Human Relations Commissioner for the City of Fremont. The Human Relations Commission (HRC) promotes and helps create a community environment in which all men, women and children, regardless of race, religion, national origin, gender, disability or sexual orientation, may live, learn, work and play in harmony.
Desrie has also served as: Chair of the Alameda County Commission on the Status of Women, a commission that provides advocacy, outreach and education for women and girls in the county. Former member of the Fremont Family Resource’s Community Advisory and Engagement Board, a City Department that provides many services, such as workshops, support groups and career and job search resources for individuals and families.
Desrie holds a BS in Business Administration. She is a 2009 program member of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Fremont.
