Read moreCarrie Portis was appointed Senior Program Officer for the Youth program in December 2013. Her focus is growing work-based learning for the Linked Learning initiative through industry and business engagement. Carrie’s prior experience has been at the intersections of business, jobs, community and education. Before joining Irvine, she developed a financial services firm that assists California businesses in accessing tax credits for their domestic job creation and R&D spending. Previously, she was Executive Director of SF Works, an intermediary affiliated with the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce that worked with employers to provide greater economic support to entry-level workers. Her experience also includes serving as Chief of Staff at the Stupski Foundation, an operating foundation focused on improving urban school districts. Carrie was an early pioneer in the social enterprise movement through her success creating businesses and business services for Rubicon Programs in Richmond CA, including the nationally recognized Rubicon Bakery, a manufacturer that hires people with barriers to employment. Carrie holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and history from Wellesley College and an MBA from Stanford University.
