Her interest in education began over 15 years ago when she pursued and completed a Master’s of Science Degree in Educational Psychology and Counseling and also received a School Counseling Credential (PPS). Amy spent her graduate school years working as a College, Career and Guidance Counselor in various educational settings, which increased her interest in underserved populations, including first generation college students, and the issue of workforce readiness. Her desire to advocate for equal educational opportunities for all has continued to grow stronger ever since.Amy’s priority for the past 12 years has been to raise her two boys, and during that time, she participated in many volunteer opportunities that contributed to the school community in which her children belong. She was the Parent Faculty Club President for two years, served on a district transition team during a school closure, recruited hundreds of volunteers for various events, and served as the DPIE Art Coordinator for the past 7 years.Prior to her appointment, Amy worked as the Events Manager for the local non-profit education foundation in her community; Dublin Partners in Education (DPIE). In that role, Amy helped raise money to fund much needed programs in the Dublin Schools. In addition to raising money, Amy’s focus lied within bringing disparate groups together for a common purpose. Amy is passionate about connecting people to generate a sense of community and come together for a cause that benefits the educational needs of children.Amy also currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Tri Valley Regional Occupational Center’s Joint Powers Board, is on the City Liaison Committee and DPIE Board of Directors. Amy most recently began working as a member of the College and Career Readiness Advisory Committee for the school district, which will ultimately ensure that the best practices needed are in place to provide the tools to all students so that they are successful beyond their High School Years. Amy plans to campaign in 2012 with the hope of being elected to the Dublin School Board for a full 4-year term so that she can continue to serve her community and do this work she considers very rewarding.
